Boris Becker’s wife speaks out after legend is in jail, tells their son, Novak Djokovic

Boris Becker’s estranged wife has lashed out at the tennis legend after he was jailed after he found him guilty of hiding millions of dollars.

Boris Becker’s estranged wife has told how her imprisoned husband “had everything and screwed up”.

Lilly Becker, 45, said telling their son that his father is in jail was the “worst thing” she’s had to do, adding: “It’s always the women who have to clean up the mess.”

Former No. 1 tennis player Becker, 54, is serving a 30-month sentence at Wandsworth Prison, south London, after hiding £2.5 million ($A4.4 million) in assets and loans when he went bankrupt in 2017 went.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Dutch model and TV presenter Lilly said she hadn’t told 12-year-old son Amadeus about his trial at Southwark Crown Court last month because she never expected him to be jailed.

She called a friend who taught at a daycare to help him tell it in his playroom.

“It was one of the worst things I’ve ever had to do,” she said.

“I will never forget to look into his blue eyes. He just couldn’t handle it.”

She said they left him alone, but he came down 20 minutes later and added, ‘I know he was Googling, but I can’t stop him, can I?

“He needs answers. He deserves answers.

“I just have to answer as best I can, but no, it’s not fair that I’m in this position.”

In an outburst about Boris, who she married in 2009, Lilly also said: “It’s really not fair to Amadeus.

“He had to deal with our transgression for years, which was annoying, and he finally realized Mom and Dad weren’t together. Now this.

“I kind of feel sorry for him (Boris) in some ways. He had everything — all that money, women, fame.

“He had it all and he ruined it.”

And she joked that she deals with it by “cleaning like a maniac”.

But she insisted that he would be fine and that “everyone there will love him because he charms everyone”.

Earlier this month, we shared how Boris lamented the grim food in his prison after being served corned beef as his first meal behind bars.

He was also told by delays to dye his hair to keep a low profile in prison.

Novak Djokovic also weighed in, saying “It breaks my heart” to see former coach Boris Becker in prison, adding that he hopes the German legend remains “healthy and strong”.

Six-time Grand Slam title winner Becker and Djokovic worked together for three years until 2017.

In that time, they won six majors, including a Grand Slam career when Djokovic won the first of his French Open in 2016.

“It breaks my heart to see him go through this,” said Djokovic. “Boris was always so nice to me and my family, and we had a great relationship over the years and accomplished great things in this sport.

“I’ve been in touch with one of his sons, Noah, and asked if I could do anything to help. But it’s terrible. I just hope he stays healthy and strong.”
