The premiere episode of the prequel to the critically acclaimed ABC crime drama pulled solid numbers on Sunday night.
The very dull wet weather in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and the surrounding area, as well as the school holidays, ensured a captive audience last night, but viewers looked elsewhere for entertainment.
On the way to the final, Ten’s MasterChef Australia topped the non-news programs for the night with 811,000 nationally. Nine Australian Ninja Warrior thingie (how inappropriate on a cold, wet winter night) drew 730,000, Seven’s nostalgia ravaged News Spotlight birthday heartwarming-tugger on Strictly Ballroom 671,000.
Insiders on the ABC had another good Sunday — 570,000 nationally, enough for a top 10 spot for the day, with stand-in host Patricia Karvelas and Aunty’s mystery road precursor, Origindrew 635,000.
