If you experience a deep sense of calm and satisfaction when visiting an art gallery, or perhaps you want to interact with art in a more meaningful way, the Museum of Contemporary Art’s new free mindfulness workshops may be just what you need. have.

Visitors who participate in Art Flow will receive a 45-minute contemplative experience from MCA artist-educators in which they reflect in new ways on an artwork in the MCA collection, and perhaps on themselves. These sessions have been developed over the past two years through an extensive collaboration between the MCA and Melbourne-based psychology practice, The Mind Room.

“The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is delighted to launch this new programme, created in response to these post-Covid times, where connection and well-being are more important than ever. Getting involved with the arts can help reduce stress and be a powerful source of well-being,” said Gill Nicol, MCA Director of Public Engagement.

Art Flow is open to everyone from the age of 18 and no previous knowledge is required to participate. It takes place every Thursday and Saturday at 10:15 AM and 12:15 PM from June 30. Each week the artwork changes with four different Guided Experiences aimed at Australian artists.

Each intimate session is allocated to only ten people per group. Participation is free, but registration is required. For more information about each session or to register for a spot click here
