Pinch him. He must be dreaming. You know, because, like, Start

Anyway, DiCaprio teamed up with director Chris Nolan as Dom Cobb and committed dream heists in this trippy 2010 movie. In fact, according to Forbes, he made more than $50 million from DVD and TV sales after initially getting a pay cut because the film was considered a “risk” at the box office.

Sunset Boulevard

You never know what you’re going to get, but Hanks has an instant classic movie with a great payday. Opting for a performance-based pay was a good bet as Hanks took in more than $60 million after the film crushed it at the box office with a reported $678 million worldwide. Not bad for a movie with a $55 million budget.

He also made $40 million for Saving Private Ryan† *insert a joke about a savings account here*

The adaptation of the popular Japanese cyberpunk anime from the 90s Ghost in the shell didn’t perform too well domestically, but still grossed $169.8 million globally. When the smoke cleared from the box office, Johansson brought in $17.5 million for playing Major Mira Killian, one of her highest paychecks for any role.

It would be cool to see a future version with the original Japanese protagonist Motoko Kusanagi one day.

9.

Depp has starred in numerous high-grossing films, so it may shock people that one of his most lucrative roles came in the form of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland† To get the biggest movie star of the time, Tim Burton Depp’s film landed for $68 million (£50 million).

I remember as a kid I thought it was weird having a side character on all the posters, but now I can think of 68 million reasons why. In addition, the film itself made more than $1 billion.

10.

Robert Downey Jr. reportedly made $75 million for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War

Downey Jr. grabbed the torch and ran so the MCU could exist. It’s only right that Marvel’s final avengers franchise (part 1) was a big reward for RDJ. $75 million flew into RDJ’s bank account for the lead role as part of Infinity Wars loaded cast.

Think if Thanos snapped his fingers for all the money in the world, RDJ would have $37.5 million from this movie alone. Think of all the shawarma you could still buy!

11.

Tom Cruise Reportedly Made $100 Million For War of the Worlds

I’d pay six figures to see Tom Cruise deliver his iconic “jerky” run against an invading alien race. That’s exactly what Paramount did in 2005 to bring a retelling of HG Wells’ classic War of the Worlds to life. Cruise chose to take 20% of the movie’s profits rather than take too much up front, and wow, betting on this movie paid off. War of the Worlds kidnapped a handsome $603.9 million from the public, leaving Cruise behind a whopping $100 million.

Cruise also made an astonishing $75 million for Mission: Impossible – Ghost protocol.

13.

There is no doubt that the Ghostbusters franchise name is profitable. On a budget of $154 million, they needed star power, and by mid-2010 there was no greater comedian than McCarthy to fit the role. They made her the highest paying actor in the movie with $14 million.

Apparently she’s not afraid of no dollars.

14.

20th Century Fox turned Andy Weir’s masterpiece novel into a movie and decided Matt Damon was their man. Damon found $25 million in his space bags and major recognition for his portrayal of botanist Mark Watney.

15.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Made $25 Million For San Andreas

The People’s Eyebrow has turned into the People’s Profit. I can’t explain why, but the Rock equals money. He Raised $25 Million Just For His Disastrous Summer Movie San Andreas

He is now expected to earn $50 million for the lead role in the upcoming Netflix movie Rode† I’m still waiting for his grand return as the Scorpio King, but they need to find the money to pay this man.

16.

17.

Denzel Washington made a reported $40 million for The little things

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

If I had an Actors Fantasy League, according to the salary cap rules, I’d give a lot of my money to Denzel.

He goes out every time and has a proven track record as a celebrity. He had a high payday for Eli’s book in 2010, and in 2021 he got a great salary totaling $40 million to star in the crime drama Small things

He remains one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood year after year.

18.

Angelina Jolie Reportedly Made Between $20 Million and $35.5 Million for Marvel’s Eternals

Vittorio Zunino Celotto / Getty Images

If you can land Jolie, you’ll pay every cent. Marvel believed the same and reportedly paid Jolie an impressive amount to play Thena, earning her a total of $35.5 million by 2021† Her average pay for previous films has been in the $20 million range, so if you want Jolie, you better pay.

Eternals earned $402 million, which is not so shabby in the pandemic era of film. A budget of $200 million. ouch. Still, Jolie is always worth the money in my unprofessional opinion.

19.

Mark Wahlberg made a reported $17 million for Transformers: Age of Extinction

Agency Animal Photo / Getty Images

Big dollars in disguise. I need to work on my robot voice, but Marky Mark didn’t have to worry about getting this part for the fourth live-action episode Transformers movies. He took home $17 million for the 2014 blockbuster.

This is all great when you think about it, because Wahlberg wasn’t exactly the face of the Transformers franchise, but they counted on him to revive it.

“Seventeen million. What is wrong with that?’ (Apologies for my bad impression of Mark Wahlberg.)

20.

Emily Blunt reportedly made $13 million for A Quiet Place, Part II

Jason Mendez / Getty Images

I have to reiterate my love of horror, and Blunt has made some serious money signing the sequel to the hit A quiet place† According to Variety, Blunt made about $13 million to reprise her role as Evelyn in A Quiet Place, Part II

However, I haven’t heard much about this. I guess you could say that when it comes to salaries, they were all pretty quiet.

21.

Bruce Willis reportedly made $114 million for The Sixth Sense

*whispers* “I see nine numbers.”

You read that right. ONE HUNDRED-FOURTEEN-MILLION! Willis Got $14 Million Upfront For M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense† Like many others, Willis counted on the film’s success and received a large portion of the film’s gross amount. Final earnings for Willis are estimated to total about $114 million, according to George Lucas’ blockbusting: a decade by decade overview of timeless films, including unknown secrets of their financial and cultural success by Alex Ben Block and Lucy Autrey Wilson.

It is one of the highest-reported paid acting roles for a single film ever.
